Especially if you intend to compete with the higher paying cost per action offers. Some decent adwords skills can make a huge amount of difference to your online money making.
Second, you can learn how fine tune the bid process with smaller paying, and less fiercely competative, "freebie" or "zip/email submit" offers. The payouts for these offers aren't as high, but the keywords can be bid on cheaply. Most of these offers run form 50 cents to $2.50 payout. As long as you keep your cost per click down (no more than 10 cents to 25 cents per click generally) these offers can work out for you and give you a little cash flow and some great insight and experience into how to manage and optimize your Google Adwords campaigns without too much financial risk.
The third way you can start your life after adsense today is to look into using smaller ppc search engines, where bid prices are comparatively lower, to promote your cost per action offers.
